Simon Biles: The First Woman to Win Five U.S. All-Around Titles

Power. Grace. Grit. Beauty. Love.

That’s who Simone Biles is. As she continues to empower girls in the world of Olympics, the 21-year old gymnast wows the world again this weekend at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Biles added a feather on her already decorated cap- as the first woman to win 5 national all-around titles.

“I’ve been back for only 9 months. I’m so proud of myself,” Biles tweeted about her win.

Her performance was every bit a powerful statement of what a world-class talent really is.  Her movements were coordinated and just amazing. Apart from her impeccable show, her teal leotard was also significant.  In an interview, Biles said she chose the color to recognize over 140 women who were sexually abused by Larry Nassar, former U.S.A. Gymnastics team doctor.  To recall, the Olympic champ revealed early this year that she was also one of the sexually abused victims of Nassar.

Despite her young age, Biles is not only an icon of enviable gymnastics accomplishments, she is also a source of motivation and strength of many women. Have you watched her in the 2016 Olympics when she brought overwhelming pride and joy to America courtesy of her bronze in balance beam and of course, her gold in the individual all-around, team all-around, floor, and vault.

With nineteen Olympic and World Championship medals under her belt, Simone Biles is a global force to reckon with.  If we think that’s enough to decorate her impressive record, we can just expect more and be in awe over and over with this bright woman.
